Local Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Jeffery Rhodes and Smile Shoppe Pediatric Dentistry,
Celebrate 30 Years of Revealing Smiles in Northern Arkansas
Smile Shoppe Pediatric Dentistry is celebrating Dr. Jeffery Rhodes’ 30 years of revealing kids’ smiles in Northwest Arkansas. Opening his first Smile Shoppe location on July 9, 1990, on American Street in Springdale, he has built a growing dental practice that is committed to the care and development of kids’ healthy and beautiful smiles from the moment they start developing teeth.
In 1988, Dr. Rhodes graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry, now known as Texas A&M College of Dentistry, followed by his residency in pediatric dentistry. While attending Children's Medical Center of Dallas and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, he gained expertise in pediatric dentistry, and working with patients who have special needs. When asked how he got into dentistry, Dr. Rhodes answers, “I felt driven by the idea that, by providing quality oral health, I was going to be able to help open doors of opportunity for people to reach their God-given potential. I loved what my dentist was doing in his practice, so I went to work for him as a dental assistant 40 years ago.”
He’s been working hard ever since. To ensure each child in Northwest Arkansas has an opportunity to have a happy, healthy smile, Dr. Rhodes has opened four Smile Shoppe locations so parents can conveniently access their clinics throughout the region: Springdale in 1990, Rogers in 2005, Bentonville in 2017, and Fayetteville in 2019. Smile Shoppe offers an extensive list of services to accommodate families’ busy schedules, including early morning appointments, emergency appointments, special health needs services, bilingual support, and more.
Along with his work at Smile Shoppe, Dr. Rhodes is the Arkansas Public Policy Advocate for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, representing the needs of Arkansas pediatric dentists by lobbying state and federal agencies around oral health issues of infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special health care and developmental needs. He is on the Council for Special Needs patients at the AAPD and an oral board examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Additionally, he attends the Leadership Institute of the AAPD at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, leading the pediatric dental profession into the future.
Dr. Rhodes also dedicates his energy to his family and community. A Dallas native, Dr. Rhodes is proud of the continued growth of diversity and talent he has seen in since he moved to Northwest Arkansas and his wife, Joy, two adult children, and 60+ cousins call the region home. He serves on various nonprofit boards, including FCA and the Walton Arts Center’s Leadership Council, and frequently presents to schools and youth clubs on the importance of oral health. In his free time, he and Joy mentor young professionals through group Bible studies and also enjoy flying, fly fishing, cycling, and skiing.
